Make a Move to be heard - Enrol to vote during National Youth Week
27 March 2009
During National Youth Week (28 March - 5 April 2009), the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is encouraging all eligible young Australians to enrol to vote and to ensure that they are enrolled at their current addresses.
The Electoral Commissioner, Ed Killesteyn, said that enrolling to vote is an important step for young people and means they can have their say in federal, state and local government elections.
"This year, the theme of national Youth Week is 'Make a move' and the AEC wants young people to make a move to be heard by enrolling to vote," Mr Killesteyn said.
Every time you move house, you'll need to update your enrolment address with the AEC by filling in a new electoral enrolment form. You can check that your address details on the electoral roll are up to date on the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au or by calling the AEC on 13 23 26.
Enrolment forms are available from the AEC website www.aec.gov.au or any AEC, Australia Post, Medicare or Centrelink office.
