Bunbury Better Hearing
This group of people are a group all of whom suffer loss of hearing in varying degrees, ranging from almost total loss of hearing to a level where loss is such that they are almost a border line for need of hearing aids.
The group is made up of women and men who gather each Wednesday morning, with classes starting promptly at 9.30 am and finishing at 11.30 am. We meet at St Augustine Uniting Church, 119 Mangles St, Bunbury and the classes run the same as school terms.
Classes consist of lip reading exercises in in the first session, the second session has some sign language signing, the amount of singing is limited as we don't have qualified teachers, however two of our members have learned sign language and use it extensively between themsevles as one is almost totally deaf.
The group has a very caring roll for its members and their families by keeping in touch with members and their families if there is an absense of other problem.
The group is a non profit group but do have to meet some fees such as hire of the building, public liability insurance and fees to the National Body - Better Hearing Australia - based in Sydney N.S.W.
